Now a 10 week class!
Little ones are welcome to wear pajamas to this evening session as we use music to channel our energy into the bedtime hour. Includes imaginative play with flashlights and bubbles. Peacefully finish the evening with bedtime stories and make wishes on glowing stars. Sweet dreams to follow. This child-centered curriculum supports the adult-child bond and includes songs, stories, creative movement, flashlight play, bubbles, puppets and more.

Where is Marcie?

Marcie is busy teaching elementary school in Boston, (a third/fourth grade combo class), as well as teaching drama for grades k1-8. Due to scheduling conflicts, her other classes are not available this season, though she is still available for parties, private playgroups, and will be performing at upcoming public events around the area!!! Come out and sing along 🙂

Sensory Play  |  Ages 18 mos.- 2 

In Sensory Play, you and your child will use materials such as paper, sand, water and play dough to explore a variety of textures. This play will ignite the imagination, as well as encourage and cultivate group socialization. Materials included. Mondays 9:30-11:00am, No class 4/18 or 5/30. March 28-June 6.  Register Now

Art with Movement and Music  |  Ages 2-3:

Children explore music and dance through mediums of visual arts, engaging stories and games. We paint with our feet, decorate handmade instruments and drum to our own creative beat. Enhance your child’s curiosity, and build observation and auditory skills in a class that combines art, music and dance. Materials included. Tuesdays or Wednesdays 9:30-11:30am, No class  4/19 or 4/20. March 29-May 31 (T), March 30-June 1 (W) Register Now

Creation Station  |  Ages 3-4

In Creation Station, the classroom is transformed into an experimental space for creating. Each week, stations are set up for students to play with a variety of materials, including one structured project. Stations have both 2D and 3D materials including paper, playdough, paint, fabric and more! Caretakers must stay for the duration of the class.No class 4/20. March 30-June 1 Register Now

A lively and imaginative child-centered curriculum fosters a child’s musical and rhythmic development, socialization and play-based learning as well as healthy attachment with nurturing and attentive adults. Classes for the newly mobile and experienced walkers alike include a rich variety of the following: original and classic sing-a-longs, story time, creative movement, rhythm games, manipulatives such as colorful scarves, puppets, sensory play, bubbles and musical instruments. Marcie’s after school enrichment curriculum for elementary school students balances imagination and creativity with an interdisciplinary approach to hands on, experiential, and task-based learning. Curriculum combines the boundless curiosity of children with guided investigation in the disciplines of engineering, mathematics, literacy, technology, and scientific inquiry. Students enjoy a variety of enriching toys, crafts, books, music, and games to promote socialization, fitness, literacy, and imaginative play.  Over the course of a semester, students dig deeply into themes of their choice, and develop their concentration as they become immersed in research and invention. Fun class titles include Music, Dramatic Play, Wizards & Dragons, Mind Craft, Space Robots & Disco Donuts, Stories & Games, and Totally Sick Science.

Adaptive Zumba for Special Needs:  H2K Fitness Studio, Arlington, MA

This modified Zumba class is for children with Special Needs, including Asperger’s Syndrome, Down Syndrome and autism related conditions. Slower, modified, low-impact steps and simple arm movements give participants the same benefits as a regular Zumba Class. Participants should bring a helper, or “buddy” (family member or aid) to join in the fun at no extra charge! Saturdays- 10:30AM (Ages 7-14), starting November 7th. Register Now

This class is led by an instructor with a Master’s Degree in education with creative arts integration. Explore the performing arts in a developmentally appropriate and fun manner! Right from birth, children are actively observing the world around them, and learning awareness of self and others. The Level 1 class balances imagination and creativity with an interdisciplinary approach to hands on, experiential, and task-based learning. Dramatic play, creative movement, music, stories, rhythm, bright visuals and manipulatives will encourage your child to gain confidence in their newfound mobility, and practice with their developing tools of communication and self-expression. This class is all about the mess! We will explore your child’s introduction to creativity with sand, water, play dough and more! We will paint with textured objects and other different, unconventional, non-toxic materials. Your little one will also participate in circle time at the beginning and end of class. Messy Munchkins is all about being creative and making a big mess that YOU don’t have to clean up.

Mondays:
“Totally Sick” Science (Grades 2nd – 5th)- Incredible hands‐on fun experiments with a mixture you know that your kids will love.

Messy Hands (Grades JK ‐ 1) – Just like it sounds. Your child will have a blast trying new hands on activities that will get their hands very messy such as making obleck and playdough.

Tuesdays:
Dramatic Play (Grades JK ‐ 1) – Explore the performing arts in a developmentally appropriate and fun manner! Students will enjoy theater improv games, puppets, set construction, character development, and more

Afterschool Theater (Grades 2nd – 5th) –   Let’s put on a show! Explore the performing arts in a developmentally appropriate and fun manner! Students will explore theater improv games, puppets, set construction, character development, dramatic play, creative movement, music, stories, and more. Students will work together to create and perform short skits.

Wednesdays:
MindCraft II (Grades 2nd – 5th) – As evidenced by the popularity of games like Minecraft, Sim City, and more, it’s clear that students love to build new worlds. In this program, students will travel via imagination, using Legos, crafts, and more to create a ‘new world’ as a group. Includes some geography and map exploration. Students will name their land, design its geography, set the laws, set up shops, and publish a newspaper. The possibilities are limitless.

Songspiration (Grades 1st – 3rd)- Let’s write poetry, (and raps, and song lyrics!) New and experienced poets welcome!! We will listen to a variety of music and read poetry for inspiration. Have fun and discover that everyone has a natural ability to create poetry and songs.

Thursdays:
Move & Groove (Grades JK-1)- Let’s get our groove on after school with some fun dance time!

Around The World (Grades 2nd – 5th) – Grab your Community School Passport and let’s travel! Each week we will look at the people, landscape, animals, and history from different parts of the world ‐    Activities will foster social and cultural awareness through stories, art, games, music, and art projects. What do we have in common with our school age friends on other continents?

TLC Music Classes– New in Belmont! Marcie has a Master’s in Education with Creative Arts Integration and will be instructing weekly TLC music classes on Wednesday mornings beginning in the fall semester.
The Loved Child (TLC) provides weekly developmental play/parenting classes for families with young children. TLC also offers consultation services for family, childcare, preschool, and pediatric practices, as well as evening parenting workshops.
