Class Descriptions- Register Now For Winter 2015!
Marcie will be taking on a full time kindgergarten maternity leave substitute teaching position at an arts integrated charter school for the next few months. Winter 2015 classes will be offered on weekends at the following locations:
Play Pretend! An Exploration of The Performing Arts: (I.e., Dramatic Play)
Saturdays 9:30am-10:15am. Ages 1-3.
H2K Kids Fitness Studio, Arlington, MA.
This class is led by an instructor with a Master’s Degree in education with creative arts integration.
Explore the performing arts in a developmentally appropriate and fun manner! Right from birth, children are actively observing the world around them, and learning awareness of self and others. The Level 1 class balances imagination and creativity with an interdisciplinary approach to hands on, experiential, and task-based learning. Dramatic play, creative movement, music, stories, rhythm, bright visuals and manipulatives will encourage your child to gain confidence in their newfound mobility, and practice with their developing tools of communication and self-expression. Parent or Caregiver participation required. Register Here.

More Messy Munchkin Fun!
Glub glub! We explored the ocean deep in Messy Munchkin Art Class with sensory bins and a fish craft. Then we swam underneath the parachute’s waves! The following week we played with magnet and sponge letters in our sensory bins, and crafted the first letters of our names into textured noodle and cereal masterpieces!
Messy Munchkins Fun!
Messy Munchkins brought the North End into BabyCakes of Charlestown today!
We washed veggies, crafted spaghetti and tried not to sneeze! On Halloween, we had an icky spooky Messy Munchkin Art Class, with bins of bugs and brains. We made spider webs, built a haunted house, and read a funny halloween story.
Halloween Happenings 2014!
Join Marcie for spooky singalong fun at Henry Bear’s Park in Brookline, BabyCakes of Charlestown, and Oakley Country Club in Watertown. Don’t forget to visit Max’s dog house this Halloween for a treat!
Messy Munchkins
This week in Messy Munchkins, we were immersed in the colors of Fall! We read The Very Busy Squirrel, stuck scrunchy autumn leaves to our tree, and painted our own busy squirrels with various textured brushes. Register now for Fall Session II here!
Mather First 375 Birthday Bash
YOU ARE INVITED from Mather Elementary on Vimeo.
In 1639, Dorchester residents created the first-ever tax-funded elementary school, and a revolution in education was born. Now 375 years later, the Mather serves more than 600 students in pre-kindergarten through fifth grade. Our children are diverse, representing the myriad of cultures and ethnicities within the Dorchester community. We have many challenges to address: more than 80 percent of students are growing up in low-income families, half speak a language other than English at home, and one in five receives special educational services. Our dedicated staff and faculty foster a community of academic rigor balanced with compassion and nurturing.
Going To School (Music)
The summer isn’t over yet, but it’s time to gently transition our little ones into the idea of going to school. Here are a couple free downloads of songs that will help!
Back Home Soon is a comforting song for easing back to school jitters.
Going to School, (a parody of Kelly Clarkson’s “Stronger”), reinforces the idea that learning is a process, and the challenging and fun times make us stronger, and connect us with one another.
9th Annual West End Children’s Festival
Join us on August 16 for a summer afternoon of fun with local West Enders and neighboring friends and family. Our 2014 festival theme encourages a healthy future and community by emphasizing health and fitness at a grassroots level – OUR CHILDREN! This year’s festival will include food, prizes, games and activities that promote healthy living both from a nutrition and fitness perspective. As always, everything at the West End Children’s Festival is completely FREE of charge!
