Keeping Busy After School!

A glimpse of Marcie’s project based after school enrichment curriculum from this week (K-3).  Learning about natural resources and making animals to gather around a waterhole, constructing homemade kites through trial and error, and turning ourselves into bugs after a rousing discussion about how ants cooperate to build bridges, tunnels, and rafts. bug day kites 2

(Above Left) We had an invasion of red ants, pollen eating bees, and some winged creatures!
(Above Right) Flying in a video game is easy….Now let’s get something homemade off  the ground!

(Above) Literacy Connection: The Water Hole by Graeme Base, and some non-fiction resources.  All this made in 45 minutes!
What a creative group!

Roll The Ball- (Free Song for Infants & Toddlers)

Roll The Ball is a circle time action song for infants and toddlers.

Promotes: socialization, hand eye coordination, sharing, and musical fun.

Activity Idea:  I use an inflatable earth ball in my music classes, as the song promotes the idea that we all share this round ball we call Earth.  If your baby is too small to move the ball, you can be sure he/she will be watching the group interaction with great interest and enjoying the related music.  You can always pick your young crawler up under the arms and gently swing his/her feet out to kick the ball too! In a larger group, it helps to have more than one ball.

How do you make circle time fun? 🙂
